National Resources

Autism Society of America

Description: A national organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals on the autism spectrum through advocacy, education, and support. It provides a free online resource database and has a focus on the interactions between autistic individuals and the legal system through its Autism Justice Center.

National Autism Association (NAA)

Description: Focuses on safety and provides tangible resources to families and first responders. Key programs include the “Big Red Safety Box” to prevent wandering and the “Give A Voice” program which provides communication devices.

Description: A major organization focused on advocacy, support, and increasing global understanding of autism. It provides extensive resources, including the “100 Day Kit” for newly diagnosed families and a large online Resource Guide to find local services.

Michigan-Wide Resources

Michigan Dept. of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Autism Program

Description: The central state agency that oversees autism services in Michigan, including the state’s Medicaid Autism Benefit which covers services like Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Description: Michigan’s strategic roadmap for building a statewide infrastructure for comprehensive, lifespan supports for autistic individuals and their families.
